Charitable giving is on the up according to new research
December 6, 2010Donations made by the UK public to charity rose by £400 million last year to a total of £10.6 billion, according to the latest research into charitable giving habits from NCVO, in partnership with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

Giving in Switzerland unaffected by economic crisis
October 27, 2010Figures recently published by Swiss charity quality mark ZEWO this month, suggest that the economic crisis did not affect giving in Switzerland in 2009 as heavily as expected, as income to its members is holding steady.
Around CHF 2.83 billion (£1.84 billion/$2.87 billion) was donated to the 457 ZEWO member charities in 2009, an 8% increase on [...]

What can we learn about donors from JustGiving?
July 27, 2010I wrote a post earlier this year to try and explain why I think peer-to-peer sponsorship platforms are a bit mis-understood.

In the 1980s and 1990s, fundraisers had few reference points to enable them to look back at and learn from the past, but today we have a wealth of quite recent experience to draw [...]
Opening the door to outside influence
October 12, 2009I’ve often wondered why there’s so little exchange between the for profit and not for profit world? As an industry we are often good at exchanging ideas and sometimes even results – at national and international fundraising conferences, in seminars, training courses and other get-togethers of fundraisers and marketers. But its fairly rare that you’ll see [...]

Diaspora – Jargon or Opportunity?
October 7, 2009For several years now fundraisers have been talking about ‘diaspora’, the broad term used to describe people giving to programmes back in their country of origin or culture. Many people believe this to be an Indian word or concept, but they are just one of the many cultures who actively practice this discipline and need.
The [...]
