“For me, being able to work in fundraising is a gift – there’s never a dull moment. Enthusiasm and honesty are essential ingredients in my approach and developing innovative new ideas and making them happen is an area where I really come into my own.”

Right now I’m focused on

“…helping museums and higher education establishments prepare for the stormy seas ahead when Government support starts to shrink. I’m working with one of London’s most iconic museums to help them increase giving from individuals who walk through the door, all the way up to their potential high net worth individuals. I’m really excited about this project because it puts them in a prime position to weather the storm, move quickly and stay ahead of their competition. I’m also working closely with clients in the higher education sector to help them identify what’s working and what isn’t across their fundraising portfolio to give them a valuable edge too.”

How I got to THINK

I cut my teeth in Top Shop’s buying office in the late 80s – a great business grounding, but putting profit before people went against the grain. The Red Cross retail division welcomed my retail skills and I eventually became head of their commercial development. I’ve always loved history which drew me to my next job as commercial manager at the Museum of London, and later, managing director of their sister museum in docklands. From here I moved to the RNID where I became their interim director of fundraising while at the same time building my consultancy business. Now I do what I love best under the THINK umbrella.

“Michelle’s breadth of fundraising experience is extensive to say the least: there hasn’t been a problem or issue that she hasn’t been able to advise on. I’ve found her support and guidance invaluable and her energy and enthusiasm an inspiration. Michelle goes way over the standard ‘consultant’ role and becomes immersed in the organisations she supports.”
