Sharon Petrie, International Consultant
Sharon has 15 years of experience working in the international NGO sphere. She has worked at local, regional and global levels, giving her the ability to understand and manage complex organisational structures while formulating and implementing long-term departmental, national and global strategies for leading international NGOs, including Habitat for Humanity International and Right To Play.
Working in Europe, Central Asia, Africa and Latin America, Sharon has accumulated extensive knowledge in global fundraising, specializing in diversification of income streams and raising funds from major donors, corporations as well as foundations and institutions. To support NGOs in becoming more professional and efficient, Sharon develops and implements fundraising systems, creates fundraising and operational plans, budgets, forecasts and reporting processes. During her career, Sharon has helped NGOs enter new markets and achieve unprecedented growth in fundraising by directly engaging with donors as well as by building capacity of her teams. Sharon is passionate about creating collaborative environments within organisations, where fundraising teams can achieve their best results and form strong supportive networks.
Sharon is an effective communicator with an instinctive understanding of business development, her ability to nurture key relationships and her focused, results-driven approach delivers real impact. Sharon´s major strengths are her abilities to work on both strategic and functional levels; bringing commercial rigour to decision making in a not-for-profit environment.
Sharon has a Master´s Degree in Development Management from The Open University and is currently studying for her MBA at the Edinburgh Business School.
