Potentially useful tool for prospect researchers attempting to value private companies (particluarly if you have a general understanding of valuation concepts). Pratt’s Stats compiles and reports information on up to 81 data points highlighting the financial and transactional details of the sales of privately and closely held companies in the US. Their database contains details on approximately 10,003 private and closely held business sales from 1990 to the present, ranging in deal price from under $1,000,000 to $14,435,000,000.
The resource is free to search but full reports have to buy purchased. It’s also worth taking a look at their FAQ section which explains a lot about their data, inlcuding how to calculate a wide variety of financial information.
